Coronation Street’s Bill Roache talks to aliens, swapped sex for healing and says dog does Deirdre impressions

CORONATION Street's Bill Roache has revealed he has some very niche hobbies.
The soap veteran, 85, told yesterday how he is convinced he is actually getting younger and now the claims it is just the latest of his wacky claims and beliefs.
According to the newspaper Bill once dreamed of a Druid before meeting him the next day and later going to Stonehenge, in full Druid getup in 1976.
He also once claimed to have lived a past life in the 13th century as a Christian rebel who was tortured and blocked up in a cave.
“I do have a sense that in a previous life I was a Cathar — part of a sect of Christianity who were burned, tortured or blocked up in caves” he said according to the newspaper.
Bill has also claimed to be able to heal people of "something really serious" with his healing hands and "energy of love" as part of his Circle of Love group in Manchester.
But Bill's talents aren't the only ones causing waves - his dog does an excellent impression of his late on-screen wife Deirdre Barlow.
Speaking on This Morning, he said: “The animal psychic told me my dog Poppy did an impersonation of Deirdre, saying, ‘Oh, Ken’, in a drawn out, exasperated way. I wasn’t aware she’d ever watched me in the show.”
And Bill also believes people will soon be talking to aliens, saying: “When the time, is right it will be possible to communicate with those beings.”
The veteran soap star credits his "belief system" with halting the ageing process and he's adamant he can think himself young.
Bill, who plays Ken Barlow in Corrie, says he made a decision to get younger and he insists aches and pains which are normally put down to "age" are actually caused by lifestyle choices.
The actor told : "I’ve decided that I’m actually getting younger. A few years ago, I made the decision that I was going to start getting younger. It’s a belief system, really. A lot of people think if they’ve got an ache or pain, then it must be age. But it’s nothing to do with age.
"Age has no ailments attached to it whatsoever – all your cells renew themselves equally all the time. If you’ve got an ailment, it’s probably because you’ve been eating the wrong stuff or living the wrong sort of life.
"The body was actually designed to go on for ever."
His comments appear reminiscent of the plot of 2008 movie The Curious Case of Benjamin Button, in which Brad Pitt played a man who reverses in age.
He puts his youthful appearance and good health down to getting plenty of exercise by playing golf.
Bill is also convinced meditation, getting eight hours sleep a night and drinking lots of water are key to living longer.
He added: "You see people who retire after having very active, mental jobs and there’s a sense of them slowing down.
"We have to keep up to the mark.

"There are certain basic principles to a good life: get a minimum of eight hours sleep a night, drink fresh clean water, get some fresh air and eat good, healthy food.
"We all know that. But our lives are so stressful and people don’t get the sleep they need."
