JAMIE EAST AT THE MOVIES

The 15:17 To Paris is a true story breaking all movie conventions by casting the real-life American heroes in their own account of stopping a terrorist attack

The big problem is the script and how it fails to build up the tension

IN a break from all movie- making conventions, Clint Eastwood has cast three real-life American heroes as themselves stopping a terrorist massacre on board a Paris-bound train.

Yes, you read that right.

The two-time Oscar-winning director and action hero has ditched Hollywood stars in favour of blokes with no acting experience.

And for the most part, Clint’s gamble pays off because there is a genuine chemistry between pals Anthony Sadler, Spencer Stone and Alek Skarlatos.

OK, they certainly won’t be winning any awards.

But I’d prefer to see them taking down the jihadist than Gerard Butler.

The greater problem is the script. It is too authentic for its own good.

Just because, before their act of bravery, the trio bought ice-cream on their trip round Europe, does not mean I need to see it.

I would have much preferred it if Clint had given more time to building up the tension on the train, rather than showing the men’s top holiday moments.

There are moments in The Invisible Man that are genuinely shocking

Still, when it comes to making a true story, a really true story, The 15:17 To Paris is long overdue.

Just as long as this does not become a trend.

No one would want to see Nigel Farage play himself if they ever make the Brexit story, would they?
