EASTENDERS viewers were left baffled tonight as Walford residents celebrated Valentine's Day 24 hours early.

Fans of the soap flocked to Twitter to point out the show seemed to have travelled forward in time and skipped Pancake Day.

Early on in the show, Mick was seen giving Linda her Valentine's Day card, which she opened with delight.

Whitney, who has been given her job at the Vic, was putting up a V Day banner while Half Way planned a romantic evening for her after getting a card which seemed to have been signed with her name.

Elsewhere Kim rustled up a romantic dinner for Vincent, Masood gave Kathy a rose in a bid to get his job at the chippie back - and Robbie gave Donna a Valentine's Day smooch.

However, viewers were getting hot under the collar at home as they pointed out that Valentine's Day is not until tomorrow.

They also seemed miffed that the soap skipped today's Shrove Tuesday completely.

One tweeted: "So we’ve skipped pancake day and gone straight to Valentines ???? #eastenders."

Another added: "What is it with #Eastenders celebrating everything early this year. Does nobody have a calendar? @bbceastenders."

A third wrote: "Are EastEnders aware it's not Valentine's Day today!? #EastEnders."

One more tweeted: "It's pancake Tuesday not valentine's Day #EastEnders."

However, another viewers reasoned that producers had to skip a day as the show is not on tomorrow.

They tweeted: "They're probably setting this episode on Valentine's Day because it's not on tomorrow. #EastEnders."

It was not a particularly successful Valentine's Day in Walford as Masood's plan to get Kathy to give him his job back failed even after he gave her a rose.

Half Way was thrilled to get a card from Whitney and planned a special dinner - but later found out she didn't write the note.

However, it was a better day for Robbie and Donna who shared a sweet kiss after he gave her a red rose.
