Who is Alison Steadman?
Alison Steadman, OBE was born in Liverpool on August 26, 1946 and is an English actress.
She developed her love of acting when she attended East 15 Acting School in Essex.
It was here she met her future husband and director Mike Leigh.
After leaving East 15 she carved out a career in the theatre, and shot to fame playing the role of the monstrous Beverly in Mike Leigh's Abigail's Party in 1977, which was also televised.
After this she won an Olivier Award for The Rise and Fall of Little Voice in 1992.
After her success on the stage she then turned to TV and the rest is history.
Is Alison Steadman married?
Alison married director Mike Leigh in 1973.
They went on to have two sons, Toby (born February 1978) and Leo (born August 1981).
But the couple separated in 1995 and divorced in 2001.
Alison is now in a relationship with Welsh actor Michael Elwyn.
