LIAM Payne name dropped Cheryl in a radio interview today - and even made fun of her voice, but didn't mention anything about their relationship.

While The Sun On Sunday exclusively revealed this weekend that the pair are "ready to end" their two-year romance, the former One Direction star said they've been having chats about which football team their son Bear will support.

Speaking to Capital FM's Roman Kemp, the 24-year-old admitted he and his Geordie partner are in disagreement over their little one's future club.

Asked if his tot was going to be a West Brom fan like his father, Liam confessed: "Well, this is the thing – Cheryl’s not really that massively into football but everyone likes to bring up where they’re from when this happens."

"She’ll like Newcastle?" the host then quizzed.

"Well everyone likes to bring up where they’re from when this happens, isn’t it, it’s like ‘Oh well I’m from here so I’m gonna do this’," Liam retorted in a deep, husky voice.

The singer then quipped: "That was a great Geordie accent. That is what [Cheryl] sounds like in the morning!"

His mention of Cheryl came at an interesting time, given that a source close to the couple recently told The Sun that Liam, whose fortune is estimated at £54million, has discussed what splitting up would mean for their shared assets.

Liam and Cheryl, said to be worth £20million, are not married but share a £5.1million mansion in Surrey.

They would also have to consider arrangements for their 11-month-old son.

A source close to the couple told Dan Wootton's Bizarre column: “Liam has sought some legal advice but he still wants to make it work. It’s just sensible to be prepared for all options.

"With a young son and a number of assets between them there is more to breaking up than just parting ways.

“He hopes it doesn’t come to it but he’s just being careful.”

Liam was the first of a string of celebrity co-hosts who will join Roman on Capital Breakfast over the next two weeks.

Camila Cabello, Anne-Marie and Paloma Faith are among the other stars who will join as Capital counts down to The Global Awards.
