X FACTOR’s live show in Cardiff on Monday night was thrown into chaos as singer Lloyd Macey’s beloved Nanny Chris was mobbed by fans looking for selfies.
The 70-year-old attended the X Factor live show to cheer on her grandson, as well as dropping off some of her now famed fish finger sandwiches, when fans immediately recognised her from auditions.
As the show wound to a close, bouncers were forced to jump in to escort Chris out of the building along with the rest of the star’s family.
Speaking to The Sun Online about the moment he found out, Lloyd said: “Nan started to leave and everyone just surrounded her, grabbing selfies with her, and all my social media pages were filled with posts going ‘we had a picture with your nan! She’s amazing’.
“It took them 20 minutes and had to escort Nan out of the building, the bouncers had to say ‘yeah she has to leave!’ She couldn’t believe it, she said ‘this is so overwhelming, I can’t believe the reaction!’ And on the phone this morning she said ‘It’s fantastic! It’s Nanny Chris and asking for my signature. I haven’t practiced!’”
“Not many people can say that of their nans! That they’ve been escorted out of the building because of a crowd. But yeah, she loved it.”
Nanny Chris went straight into the nation’s hearts after going with Lloyd to the first audition - and ended up on the judging panel beside Simon as she fed them all sandwiches during Lloyd’s first performance from the show.
Since then, she has been joined by the rest of the family, who are based in the Rhonnda Valleys of Wales, to every live show in London, as well as his home town shows.
In the process, she has become known to fans of the show - and now can’t stop getting recognised herself.
“I thought she’d be really shy about the whole thing, and I wasn’t sure how she was going to take it,” revealed Lloyd. “But I think she actually loves it - as soon as you put a camera in front of her, she comes alive.”
“I couldn’t believe, we were all standing behind the stage when Becca Dudley interviewed Nan and she had such an amazing cheer, we were like ‘wow, Nanny Chris is the star of the show’, but she loved it. She really enjoyed it,” he added.

Lloyd, 24, also thanks his nan and family for helping him achieve his dreams of travelling around the country performing in arenas. He told us: “She says ‘it’s not about me it’s about you’ but I’m like Nan, you’re as much a part of the journey as me’.
“If it wasn’t for her I wouldn’t be singing, I wouldn’t be achieving my goal, and I think looking back, at the first audition and now, she’s been there from the start, and she’ll always be there. To see her last night in the audience enjoying herself was amazing.”
