Who is Young Sheldon star Iain Armitage? Child actor who plays Sheldon Cooper in The Big Bang Theory prequel
IAIN Armitage is a child actor best known for his role in Young Sheldon.
But just who is the nine-year-old American star of the Big Bang Theory prequel, and has he appeared in anything else? We've got the lowdown on him...
Who is Iain Armitage?
The rising star was born in July 2008 and is the son of theatre producer Lee Armitage and actor Euan Morton.
Despite his blossoming acting career, he is still based with his parents in Arlington, Virginia.
It was announced last year that he would be starring as nine-year-old Sheldon Cooper in Young Sheldon - a prequel to hit series The Big Bang Theory - which was broadcast first in the UK on Thursday 22 February.
Of his high-profile new role, his mother Lee told the LA Times in September 2017: "That amount of time is so much of his life.
"But he was so excited about it. So we made a pact that as long as he likes doing it — and as long as we see it’s not negatively affecting him — he can do it. If it doesn’t work for our family, we’ll talk.”
Has he starred in anything else?
While he is best known for his role in Young Sheldon, he has also appeared in other TV shows and films.
These include Big Little Lies, where he played the role of troubled schoolchild Ziggy, alongside Nicole Kidman, Reece Witherspoon, Shailene Woodley and Zoe Kravitz.
He was also cast in 2017 films The Glass Castle and Our Souls At Night.
Kicking off his acting career was a part in an episode of Law & Order: Special Victims Unit.
