Who was Sridevi?
Born as Shree Amma Yanger Ayyapan in Sivakasi, India, in 1963, Sridevi broke into acting at the tender age of four.
She landed her first adult role by 13, which saw her play a college girl involved in a bitter love triangle.
She made her debut as a lead actress in Bollywood in 1978 and was eventually regarded as Hindi cinema's first "female superstar".
As well as Hindi movies, Sridevi acted and produced films in the Tamil, Teluga, Malayalam and Kannada languages.
She featured in almost 300 films throughout her career and in 2012 returned to the craft in Gauri Shinde's English Vinglish after a 15-year hiatus.
Speaking about her career to The New Indian Express in 2013, Sridevi said: "I lost out on going to school and college life but I got into the film industry and worked without a gap -- from child actor I went straight to heroine. There was no time to think and I was grateful for it."
The Bollywood icon sadly passed away in her Dubai hotel room following a heart attack on February 24, with her death being mourned by a figures including India's Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
The actress had flown to the United Arab Emirates to attend the wedding of her nephew Mohit Marwah.
Reports claim her husband and daughter, Khushi, were with her when she passed away.
Her funeral will take place on Wednesday, February 28, in the city of Mumbai.
Fans began gathering in the city in the early hours for what is expected to be a major event in the cultural capital of India.
Who was Sridevi married to?
Sridevi was married to one of Bollywood's leading producers Boney Kapoor, born Achal Kapoor in 1955.
Before marrying Sridevi, Kapoor was married to Mona Shourie, the CEO of Mumbai's Future Studios, and together they welcomed two children; Anshula and Arjun Kapoor, with the latter recently venturing into acting.
Mona died on 25 March 2012 of multiple organ dysfunction syndrome.
He married Sridevi on 2 June 1996 and the pair later had two daughters, Jhanvi, 20, and Khushi, 17.
