Good Morning Britain’s Charlotte Hawkins reveals how she overcomes early mornings after Piers Morgan negotiates later start time

While Piers now clocks in at the ITV studios at 5:30am, Charlotte still has to turn up at 4am

CHARLOTTE Hawkins has revealed her secret to combatting tiredness thanks to her early morning starts on Good Morning Britain.

The 42-year-old anchor revealed she now does yoga which helps her stay awake and refreshed on air.

But that doesn’t mean Charlotte doesn’t sometimes feel knackered, as she revealed she once nodded off in the dentist’s chair.

Speaking to , Charlotte said: “I fall asleep if I sit down anywhere for too long – I even nodded off once at the dentist during root canal surgery, which was quite an achievement!

“You can have a smile on your face no matter how much sleep you've had. I make the most of every opportunity.”

Speaking about her love of yoga, Charlotte – who’s mum to three-year-old Ella Rose – explained: “Not only is it good for you physically, but it's also great for your mental health, too.”

Charlotte’s interview with the magazine comes just days after her GMB co-star Piers Morgan revealed he’d managed to push back his start time on the show.

While Charlotte and his colleagues all arrive at 4am, Piers is now allowed to be on site at 5:30am – just half an hour before they go live on air.

Piers told OK! Magazine: “I threatened to quit a couple of times.

“I can be a bit of a prima donna.

“I was coming in at 4am and it was killing me, but now they let me come in at 5:30am.

“I get more time off. GMB seems to be successful so I said you can have me a little bit less, which might be quite popular, and they were prepared to do that, so I was happy to stay.”

Charlotte and Piers' co-star Susanna Reid also still has to cope with the early wake up calls.
