Who is Priya Sharma in Emmerdale and will Lachlan White kill her?
The character was previously embroiled in a storyline which saw her investigated by the police - now she might be on killer Lachlan's hit list
Priya Sharma has recently started working for Joe Tate at Home Farm and her new role has seen her paying a special interest in killer Lachlan White’s murder shack.
But who is she and will her curiosity lead to her being the murderer’s sixth victim? Here’s the lowdown...
Who is Priya Sharma in Emmerdale?
Priya Sharma is actually called Priya Kotecha as she’s technically still married to her dodgy husband Rakesh Kotecha.
She’s the daughter of Rishi and Georgia Sharma.
Priya has two brothers, Jai and Nikhil Sharma.
She is mother to Amba Metcalfe, her daughter with former fiancé, David Metcalfe.
She arrived in the village in 2009 when she was played by Effie Woods. Fiona Wade took over the role in 2011.
As well as David, Priya has had a fling with Cain Dingle and an affair with Pete Barton who was engaged to Leyla Harding, Priya’s best friend, at the time.
She’s battled an eating disorder and was diagnosed with anorexia while she was pregnant with Amba in a controversial storyline in 2014.
Her family tried getting her to eat, but she then began making herself sick. Eventually she checked into a specialist clinic for the sake of her unborn baby.
She married Rakesh after requesting an arranged marriage, but their relationship broke down after Rakesh set fire to Mill Cottage in an insurance scam that went wrong. He also embezzled money from Sharma and Sharma, the factory Priya’s family run.
Why would Lachlan White kill her?
Priya is becoming suspicious of serial killer Lachlan White and spotted the message he had carved into the wood in the shack where he kept his aunt Rebecca White before appearing to murder her.
She’d written Lachlan in a killer in the wood and the twisted teen wasn’t able to cover it up before Priya, who was investigating the area with a dog patrol, saw it.
Lachlan has gone to murderous lengths to cover up his killer secret, including bludgeoning his best friend Gerry Roberts to death and strangling Rebecca.
A new trailer for Emmerdale recently showed Lachlan with what appeared to be a body in the boot of his car.
Could it be Priya’s corpse?
