S Club 7’s Jon Lee makes surprise appearance on Dinner Date looking for love
S Club 7 singer Jon Lee has popped up on dating show Dinner Date looking for love – after famously ‘looking for romance’ in the song S Club Party.
Viewers of the ITVbe show, and his dates, were shocked as the band member turned up on their doorsteps to be wined and dined.
On the show, Jon – who has been single for over a year – got to pick three out of five menus to go on a blind date with.
Speaking about his decision to be on the show, he said: “Dating in S Club didn’t really happen. I met people here and there, but you can’t just say ‘hi, I’m Jon, by the way I’m off for six months’.”
His first date, Curt, didn’t realise who he was at first, but when he revealed he used to be in S Club, he came over all-star struck.
He later admitted he had been a huge fan and knew all their songs and dance moves.
His second date, Kieron had no idea who he was until he said – but again was taken aback when Jon revealed the truth.
His final meal was with an American called Jordan, who Jon ended up picking because he had never heard of S Club.
Jon said it was “refreshing”, but unfortunately the pair never saw each other again.
Those watching at home were delighted to see Jon back on the telly and took to Twitter to comment on it.
One person exclaimed: “OMG, Jon Lee from S Club 7 is on DINNER DATE!.”
Others were feeling more sentimental, with one writing: “Jon from S Club trying to catch himself a man on Dinner Date has ruined all kinds of childhood dreams 💔☹️.”
While another person was amused because of the lyric in their song S Club party – they wrote: “Jon’s looking for romance… HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA #DinnerDate.”
Jon’s appearance comes on the show comes after his bandmate Paul Cattermole revealed he was having money troubles.
The 40-year-old former singer has recently fallen on hard times, and in a bid to earn some cash to pay off his debts, he tried to flog the two BRIT Awards he won whilst part of the 90s group on eBay.
