PHILLIP Schofield has left This Morning viewers in stitches after mistakenly calling Sir Bradley Wiggins "Sir Bradley Walsh" during an intense interview.

The TV presenter was chatting to retired Olympic athlete Roger Black and journalist David Walsh about the British cyclist - who has been accused of doping - when he accidentally got his name mixed up with cheeky The Chase host Bradley Walsh.

"Can we get to the bottom of this? Will we be able to exonerate Sir Bradley Walsh?" he asked passionately.

While Phillip seemed completely unaware he had made the blunder, viewers instantly picked up on the gaffe.

"ThisMorning so funny when Schofe called Bradley Wiggins sir Bradley Walsh by mistake. Wonder what #bradleywalsh thinks of that. #wrongbradley," one viewer laughed.

"Well if he is a cheat then Bradley Walsh is my candidate to take his knighthood #ThisMorning," another joked.

"Err Philip!!! Bradley Walsh???? Its Wiggins #ThisMorning," chimed a further shocked viewer.

Realising his error after an ad break, Phillip quickly apologised for the mix-up, quipping: “Sorry, I think I mixed up Sir Bradley Wiggins and Bradley Walsh earlier,” as co-host Holly Willoughby laughed next to him.

Referencing Bradley Walsh's decision to hijack the This Morning team's acceptance speech at the National Television Awards in January, he added: "That’s payback for the National Television Awards."

The awkward gaffe happened as Phillip chatted to expert guests Roger and David about whether or not Sir Bradley was an innocent man after a bombshell report by MPs said the Tour de France winner and Team Sky “crossed an ethical line” by using asthma drugs to enhance his performance.

Sir Bradley has vehemently denied the allegations, telling the : "Not at any time in my career did we cross the ethical line. I refute that 100%. This is malicious, this is someone trying to smear me."

Team Sky are accused of using the 37-year-old Olympic and Tour de France hero’s medical condition as a cover.

The first Brit to win the Tour de France added: "[Cycling] is the most scrutinised sport in the world. I can't control what people are going to think but for some people, whatever you do it is not going to be enough.

“I just don't know any more in this sport - you are damned if you do, damned if you don't."
