First look at the brand new series of Towie as cast appear as you’ve never seen them before and ‘go back in time’ for new trailer

THE Towie have gone back in time by dressing up in medieval costumes to launch the new series.

Gemma Collins, Pete Wicks and Lauren Pope were among the castmembers who swapped Essex glam for Shakespearean chic.

In shots taken for a trailer for the new season, Gemma looked like a queen of England instead of just Essex in a tight cream bustier dress covered in sparkling stones.

Her on/off lover James Argent also got dressed up, looking like a gentleman fit for court in a red floral tunic with ruffled sleeves.

Pete Wicks did not need much acting experience to play the Lothario as he clutched a red rose to his lips.

Lauren Pope looked regal in a plunging black bodice with a furry stole.

Also looking like a queen was Georgia Kousoulou, who wore a gold dress which matched her huge headpiece.

Yazmin Oukhellou was more modestly dressed and looked like a lady in waiting in her red and gold gown with puffed sleeves.

James Locke, James 'Diags' Bennewith and Tommy Mallett were also among the stars who took part in the shoot.

Although the reason for the fancy dress has not been revealed, there was only one castmember who made it clear who is character was.

Bobby Norris seemed to hint he was playing Shakespearean prince Hamlet as he held up a diamante-encrusted skull.

The snaps are part of a shoot the cast did for the new series trailer.

The teaser is slated to debut on ITV on Saturday, and Towie returns later this month.
