Elizabeth has been cast as Princess Diana in the final two series of The Crown.
She’ll be seen playing the royal in the fifth and sixth seasons of the Netflix show, which will include Di’s tragic death in a car crash in Paris in 1997.
Elizabeth is the same age the princess was in 1990, the year that the drama picks up the Windsors’ story – and enters one of their most turbulent periods.
The seasons will document the breakdown of Diana’s marriage to Prince Charles.
One scene will recreate the moment when Diana attended a dinner at the Serpentine Gallery in Kensington Gardens in 1994 in a daring black mini dress.
The moment was significant as Diana attended the event on the same night a program was broadcast which saw Prince Charles admit he had been unfaithful to her after their marriage had “irretrievably broken down”.
Despite having split up two years before the moment, her outfit became known as the “revenge dress” and now Elizabeth, has had the chance to recreate it.
