Katie Price’s mum Amy reveals she turned down her offer of a ‘lung’ after being diagnosed with terminal illness
Katie's mum Amy was diagnosed with Idiopathic Pulmonary Fibrosis last year.
KATIE Price’s mum Amy revealed her glamour model daughter offered her a lung after she was diagnosed with a terminal illness.
Katie, 39, revealed her mother’s devastating news last year and recently admitted she had started planning her funeral.
In a new interview, Amy revealed the heartbreaking moment she told the mum-of-five about being diagnosed with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis.
In a heartbeat, Katie insisted she undergo a transplant and take one of her healthy lungs but Amy refused to let her.
While it is possible for the transplant between two living donors, the operation is incredibly risky.
Speaking about Katie’s selfless offer, Amy told : “I said no, you’re not going to do that. You’ve got to think if, by any chance, it went wrong, who’s going to look after your kids?
“You’ve got to think about your children, not me, and what’s going to happen to them.
“Of course, I was so touched at her offer. But Kate is my child, not the other way around. I have to protect her.
“So there will be no lung transplant from Kate. I can’t allow it”.
IPF is a condition that causes progressive scarring of the lungs making it more difficult to breathe.
There is currently no cure for IPF.
Almost half of patients living with the condition will not survive for more than three years after diagnosis.
Katie was escorted off Loose Women in tears back in December as she spoke of her mum’s diagnosis after Keith Chegwin died of the same disease.

Katie put her head in her hands as she struggled to contain her tears and said: “The thing is my mum is going to die, I just don't want her to die.”
Ruth Langsford gave her a hug as Katie added: “She's getting worse, she's having to sell her house now because she can't get up...”
Katie has now vowed to run the London Marathon to raise awareness for lung charities in order to help them fight IPF.
As she comes to terms with her mum's battle, she has also opted to go to therapy.
