JAKE Quickenden was crowned the champion of Dancing On Ice 2018 in an intense final showdown against Brooke Vincent and Max Evans.
The X Factor star beat out fierce competition over the past few weeks with partner Vanessa Bauer to make their way to the top spot, and finally, thanks to a purely audience vote, they were declared the winner.
Speaking about the win, the champion declared: "I might not have to do any more reality shows now!"
For the finale, X Factor star Jake, Coronation Street's Brooke and sportsman Max were tasked with learning three difficult routines - one choreographed by Torvill and Dean and a repeat of their favourite routine.
Finally, after one elimination, the top two couples performed their take on the classic Bolero.
Max Evans was the performer to fall at the final hurdle, with partner Ale Izquierdo reduced to tears as it was revealed they hadn't made it to the top two.
Jake and Vanessa broke down in tears as they were crowned this year's champions after repeatedly pulling out all the stops and repeatedly topping the leaderboard week after week.
The couple were also the only couple to attempt and complete the dangerous headbanger during their routines.
Brooke, who placed second in the show, joked to hosts Phillip Schofield and Holly Willoughby: "Are you sure it's not a fix?"
However she then praised the efforts of her competitors and their efforts to take home the trophy.
Here's everything you missed from tonight's finale...
Torvill and Dean’s Routines
Jake Quickenden and Vanessa Bauer – A Little Less Conversation by Elvis Presley vs JXL
Leading a group routine to A Little Less Conversation, which was set in a bar, the team turned into cowboys and cowgirls for Jake’s first performance.
The fun number was full of tricky lifts and stunts – which was made even more complicated after Jake dislocated his thumb during training this week.
Coming off to chat afterwards, and ecastatic Jake announced: "I just did a backflip on the ice! I can go home now!"
Christopher Dean and Jason Gardiner also shared a bout of saucy innuendo about the hunk, with Chris admitting: "I’ve been dying to get my hands on Jake."
Jason Gardiner then quickly added: "So have I!"
Jayne Torvill said: "I was looking to spot the celebrity amongst them! You did so well."
Ashley Banjo agreed and said: "That is the only way to start the final. You are in there surrounded by pros – and we can’t tell the difference."
Brooke Vincent and Matej Silecky - Genie In A Bottle by Christina Aguilera
Turning into the genie to Matej's Aladdin, the lift-heavy routine saw Christina be lifted and spun around by the three leading men on the ice.
Speaking after the routine, Brooke said: "I loved having the boys - it stopped us bickering! What an experience."
Jayne admitted that Brooke was struggling at the beginning of the week and said: "I am so proud of you, because the beginning of the week you were very quiet which is very unusual. Tonight it was brilliant."
Chris then revealed the secret to her success and said: "The genie in a bottle didn't want to come out to begin with, but then you found Saskia - youralter ego and she was brilliant tonight, it was the best I've seen you perform it."
Ashley added: "There were some lovely moments in that routine. I wouldn't expect anything less from our resident legends here."
He then added: "You might be an underdog tonight, but to the public - they love seeing you skate, so keep doing what you're doing."
Max Evans and Ale Izquierdo - Born To Be Wild by Steppenwolf
Becoming bikers for their routine, Max and Alex pulled out all the stops to impress the judges.
Speaking afterwards, Max said: "To have the pleasure to work with Chris and Jayne was such a huge honour."
"You had the strength you had the power, and what you had was the determination," said Chris.
Jayne agreed and added: "I love the strength and energy you put into that routine."
"You seem to come alive after difficult hard lifts," said Jason, but then added: "During some of the other stuff, the showmanship wasn’t there."
Ashley half-agreed, but added: "I think there are some times where you were thinking about it. I was always worried because you’re a sportsman, but you deliver every week."
Repeat Routines
Jake Quickenden and Vanessa Bauer - Canned Heat by Jamiroquai
Repeating their disco-inspired routine, Jake and Vanessa pulled out the classic scary Headbanger for their latest routine.
Dressed in velour tracksuits, Jake joked that he loved the outfit and that was the reason he chose the songs.
At the end of the routine, the four judges gave the pair a standing ovation in lieu of giving the perfect score.
"What I love about this partnership is you never rest on your laurels," said Jason. "You deliver and I love it."
"It's the final week and you're getting better and better every time," beamed Chris. "It's elevated so much more, and you added that little flip at the end."
Proud partner Vanessa said: "I was so pleased I could bring back this number. It was when he fell in love with skating. I am just so proud to see his journey."
Brooke Vincent and Matej Silecky - Sing Sing Sing by Bebo Best And The Super Lounge Orchestra
The Coronation Street actress said that this week seven routine marked a turning point for her time in the competition.
Chris said: "I loved your facial expressions - that was the week you came out. You showed off, and you showed off again tonight."
Jason praised the pair for listening and working on the critiques given and said: "When you did this the first time - it was electrifying, and you again topped it.
Ashley said: "It was only right that you did this routine, because it was such a landmark moment for you."
"You're very special for me Brooke," he added. "You fought for your place and you deserve to be here."
Max Evans and Ale Izquierdo - Perfect by Ed Sheeran
Re-creating their first ever routine, Max and Ale showed how far they’d come with their performance to Perfect by Ed Sheeran.
Set against a starry night, the nostalgic pair created performances including the ballet lift, which they performed unsuccessfully.
Clearly upset about failing to perform the lift, Max was given a pep talk by Chris, who reminded him that “five weeks ago it would’ve been a disaster”.
“[In your first week] It was really awkward skating but you could see there was also this determination this strength and this passion,” he told them.
I think it was really brave to do this tonight. I really am proud of you for doing this first skate.
“When you’re a rugby player to come out and do that is brilliant,” said Jason.
“If I’m not mistaken this was your very first skate, the transformation from then to now is just immense,” praised Ashley. “The beauty of the execution of that routine was just stunning.”
Bolero
Jake Quickenden and Vanessa Bauer
The pair received a standing ovation after they ended their Dancing on Ice experience with the classic routine.
Chris praised the pair and said: "You did us proud tonight - thank you for that Bolero."
Jason said: "It was a beautiful homage to something that is iconic and you encapsulated everything we needed to see tonight."
"Win or lose - you're a champion," added Jordan.
Vanessa was close to tears as she said: "This is an absolute honour. I had so many ideas for it and I'm so grateful to have Jake by my side to realised my vision."
Jake praised Vanessa and the pair hugged as he said: "I could not have asked of a better friend firstly, but also a better partner."
Brooke Vincent and Matej Silecky
Emotional Brooke struggled to speak as she admitted that she "thought she would never be able to stand up".
Proud Jayne told her: "I love the passion and the determination on your face throughout the dance and you should be so proud of what you've done."
Jason said: "Would've ever thought? You've come into your own. You were a sultry seductress and you even had fireworks!"
"The ultimate Dancing on Ice story - started from the bottom, and now we're here in the final of dancing on ice doing the bolero!" beamed Ashley. "You would've had the ten from me tonight, well done."
