IN IT FOR THE LONG RUN

Fears for Katie Price as she’s ‘barely done any London Marathon training’ after second facelift five weeks before big race

KATIE Price has “barely done any training” to run the London Marathon in five weeks time – and friends are concerned that she’ll seriously injure herself during the 26 mile race.

Katie, who recently underwent a second facelift to correct work that “went wrong” late last year, is running the race on 22 April to raise money for the lung charity who support her terminally ill mum Amy.

But friends tell The Sun Online that because of her recent surgery and the snowy weather, plus her relentless work schedule, Katie’s struggling to train for the run.

“Katie only had the surgery on her face a month ago, and she needed to rest to help it heal,” says her friend.

“Before that, she’d been trying to train by running on the treadmill in her gym, but the surgery put a stop to that.

“She’s naturally quite fit because of all the horseriding she does, but she’s very out of practice with running.

“She’s tried to get back into it slowly after the surgery, but Katie’s not a natural runner.

“Anyone who’s ever been to her house knows that she hates the cold, so when it snowed, there was no way she was running outside.

“She had a few jogs around her farm but most of her running has been done on the treadmill.

“And that’s when she can fit it in! She’s a busy mum and has work on too. She’s hardly done any training and everyone’s worried she’ll really injure herself badly when she tries to run the marathon in April.

“Katie is running this for her mum, so she just won’t stop, even if she’s badly hurt. Everyone’s worried she could do permanent damage.”

Katie announced her plan to run the marathon back in January, saying: “My mum means the world to me and the news of her diagnosis was a huge shock.

“I am proud to be running the London marathon to raise awareness and vital funds for the British Lung Foundation. One in five people in the UK are affected by lung disease and millions more are at risk.

“Running 26 miles may seem like a big challenge, but it is nothing compared to what my mum and others living with IPF and other lung conditions go through every day.”

She’s hoping to raise funds for research and support for idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis, which her mum Amy, 64, suffers from.

However, at the beginning of March this year, Katie had to travel to Brussels to have surgery on her face after a previous surgeon “f***ed it up”.

Katie has run the marathon once before – in 2009, with ex Peter Andre. She had to pull out of the race in 2010 and 2011 due to a knee problem, but doubled sponsorship money donated by fans.

A spokesperson for Katie had no comment when contacted by The Sun Online.
