CORONATION Street viewers have been left heartbroken as David Platt tried to cope with being raped.
The hairdresser - who is played by actor Jack P. Shepherd in the ITV soap - moved viewers to tears as he tried to cope after being drugged and sexually assaulted by Josh Tucker.
Viewers watched as David woke up after the attack, clearly in pain, to discover a note about breakfast from Josh acting as if nothing had happened.
Later when Josh turned up at the Platts, David rushed out to throw up before confronting Josh.
"What are you doing coming here?" David demanded to know, adding :"I've had my last drink from you. Whatever you put in it you didn't knock me out completely. I know what you did, I can still feel it. You're twisted."
But as David tried to force him to leave, Josh twisted the truth to pretend it was consensual.
"You were all over me like a rash and now suddenly now you've gone all caveman," Josh said trying to pretend that David consented.
"Just save the drama, we were both wasted, we both wanted it," Josh added, walking out of the Platts as if he did nothing wrong.
The rapist then pretended that David was only worried about Shona discovering what had happened, and later he targeted David's girlfriend to try and get her on side to hide his sick crime.
And later it seemed to work with Shona trying to bring David and Josh back together in the Rovers.
Viewers flocked to social media to share their opinions of the developments.
One wrote: "Omg #CoronationStreet tonight got me like @RClayton92 @JackPShepherd88 epic acting on both parts! Never felt sorry 4 David platt in my life like I did tonight #l"
Another said: "Poor David. This storyline is heart breaking and makes me sick to my stomach, however it highlights a major problem that is happening in this world.
"I have so much respect for Coronation Street for creating this storyline and showing men can be victims of abuse too."
