HARRY Potter fans spent eight films believing Professor Snap was the villain who always had it out for the young wizard.
But a clue that revealed he wasn't all bad came in Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 when Severus Snape (Alan Rickman) does Harry a huge favour.
It happens in the blink of an eye and could easily go unnoticed - so you may have missed this major moment.
During Snape and Professor McGonagall's (Maggie Smith) epic battle, the Dark Arts teacher's kindness is revealed.
Despite looking like he's getting beaten by McGonagall, eagle-eyed fans may have spotted he's actually deflecting her wizadry into the Death Eaters behind him.
This helps kill them off and protect Harry - whose mother Lily Evans he was so madly in love with.
It's at this moment it becomes clear Snape's main goal during all eight films was to look out for Harry by leading a double life.
Other moments that hint at this include Snape trying to remove a spell on Harry's broom at a Quidditch match.
He also covered for Harry, Ron and Hermione when the cat Mrs Norris was found petrified during The Chamber of Secrets.
