GAME Of Thrones actor Tobias Menzies is set to take on his biggest role yet, playing Prince Philip in The Crown series three.

As fans gear up for the show to return to Netflix on Sunday, November 17, here's everything you need to know about the British actor taking over from Matt Smith.

Who is Tobias Menzies?

Tobias Menzies, 44, was born March 7, 1974, and is an English stage, television and film actor.

He is best known for starring in Game Of Thrones.

While working in theatre, he starred in television shows such as Rome (2005–2007) where he played Brutus.

Tobias is also known for his dual role as Frank Randall and Jonathan "Black Jack" Randall in Outlander (2014–2018), for which he received a Golden Globe Award nomination.

He starred in The Night Manager, The Terror and Channel 4 sitcoms Catastrophe and This Way Up.

On March 29, 2018, it was revealed Tobias will take over the role of Prince Philip from Matt Smith in the third and fourth season of Netflix series The Crown.

Who did Tobias play in Game Of Thrones?

Tobias played Edmure Tully in Game Of Thrones from 2013 to 2016.

His character is the son and heir of Lord Hoster Tully

He first appeared in season three, where he marries Roslin, but his Red Wedding ends in a bloodbath and he is taken prisoner.

Tobias is next seen in GOT in season six taking back Riverrun, but at the end he's still locked up.

He then appeared in The Iron Throne, in the eighth and final season, where he takes part in the trial of Tyrion Lannister and consents to his nephew Bran Stark becoming the new King of the Andals and the First Men.

When is The Crown season three available on Netflix?

We'll see Tobias in The Crown when season three makes its debut on November 17, 2019.

However it has been rumoured that the Queen is said to have been "upset" and "annoyed" with a TV portrayal of Prince Philip as an uncaring father.
