Avengers: Infinity War characters – which superheroes and villains are in the latest film, who plays who and does anybody die?
AVENGERS: Infinity War is the latest Marvel film to make a splash at the box office.
But who has returned, which superheroes are in it and does anyone die? Let's get the lowdown...
Who are the Avengers: Infinity War characters?
There's an absolute glut of superheroes appearing in this third Avengers film, including:
Iron Man
Leader and benefactor of the Avengers. Billionaire playboy and engineer Tony Stark becomes the superhero Iron-Man after he's critically wounded by weapons made by his own company. Infinity War marks a decade for Robert Downey Jr in the role.
Thor
The King of Asgard based on the Norse mythology deity, Thor is looking to return to Earth after the events of Ragnarok that saw his kingdom destroyed. The film is Chris Hemsworth's sixth outing as the God of Thunder.
Hulk
Bruce Banner is a genius scientist who suffers an over-exposure to gamma radiation that transforms him into the Incredible Hulk when he becomes enraged or agitated. Hulk was discovered by Thor on the planet Sakaar and is taken back to Earth. Mark Ruffalo replaced Edward Norton in the role for 2012's Avengers Assemble.
Captain America
The former leader of the Avengers and now a fugitive superhero, Captain America was part of an experiment during World War 2 to enhance him to the peak of human physicality. After a plane crash, he's left frozen in suspended animation before waking up in the modern world. Infinity War is the last in Chris Evans' original six-picture deal to portray the superhuman soldier.

Does anyone die in Avengers: Infinity War?
Marvel Studios have been serious about treating Infinity War as a finale for the characters who were introduced in phase 1 of the MCU and who have already had individual trilogies.
Screenwriter Stephen McFeely : "It's safe to say we will say farewell to people."
Whilst there may be no more prominent appearances from Robert Downey Jr's Iron-Man after this, he may not necessarily die, as is the case with Thor and Black Widow.
Those in most danger include Captain America, who survived the film storyline that killed him in the comics, and Vision, who has an infinity stone in his own head.
It's safe to bet on characters like Spider-Man and Black Panther surviving seeing as they're advertised for future movies after Infinity War.
