Who is Shelley King?
Shelley King, 62, was born September 25, 1955 and is an actress.
She was born in Calcutta, India to Kelly King, a much respected photographer.
Shelley attended La Martinere for Girls and learned English and French.
Before joining Coronation Street, she was best known for playing Jay Harper in 70s TV show Angels.
Who is Shelley's character in Coronation Street?
Shelley's character Yasmeen Nazir made her first appearance on The Street in July 2014.
Yasmeen was brought in as Kal Nazir's (Jimi Mistry) mother and the wife of Sharif Nazir (Marc Anwar).
The Nazirs are the soap's first Muslim family.
Yasmeen runs the Community Centre on Victoria Street.

Coronation Street is on Monday, Wednesday and Friday evenings.
