Dale Winton joked about death and vowed to get rid of clutter in his house just three months before he died
DALE Winton vowed to clear out his home before he died, just three months before he actually passed away.
The legendary Supermarket Sweep host died at his home on Wednesday.
In an interview with The Sun's TV Mag, Dale was asked if he has kept any souvenirs from his shows and quipped that he should clear it all out for when he died.
He said: "I’ve got a cupboard full of memorabilia – sweat shirts, books, T-shirts, board games.
"God knows what’s in there. I’m going to have to look in it though because I’m about to move house.
"I am a bit of a hoarder though. If I died today no one would want all this old junk so it’s about time I went through it all.
"My New Year’s resolution is to get rid of stuff I don’t see or use. If I haven’t worn an item for a year I’m not going to keep it anymore.
"A lot of people have said to me I’d feel so much better if I got rid of a lot of my stuff.
"You come into my house and it’s clean but it’s not the most tidy. As I look around my room now in my home in Florida you would be horrified.
"On one side of the room it’s all CDs and DVDs, on the other side it’s all books. And they’re mounting up and beginning to take over the room. It’s not good."
Meanwhile, the telly star was said to be "plagued by health woes" in the months leading up to his shock death at the age of 62.
Speaking in what has become one of his final interviews, Dale revealed he had taken time out of the limelight to deal with his health.
"I had a shoulder problem and a knee problem, so I took a break to get myself sorted.
"It meant I couldn’t exercise, so I’ve been dieting like crazy, but then when I was asked to do this show I thought it would be fun."
Back in 2016, during an appearance on Loose Women, Dale spoke about his secret battle with depression.
He told the panel: "I should have taken myself off the TV, but I didn't. There are worst things in the world, but I had health issues and I had the depression and I didn't realise.
"I always thought get over yourself... I should have known my mum died from it."
The star then revealed how his mother took an overdose just days after his 21st birthday.
He also started to struggle with his mental health after a bad break up.
He explained: "I had a bad break-up and then I had health issues.
"I would not leave the house.
"Five years, [but] I've totally got through it."
