Awkward moment Phillip Schofield asked Zoe Ball about her new boyfriend during segment on her charity bike ride in memory of late partner Billy
ZOE Ball was asked about her new boyfriend during a segment on her charity bike ride in memory of late partner Billy Yates on today’s This Morning.
The presenter was on the ITV show to talk about the cycle and her new weekend morning show when Phillip innocently asked about her new man when a holiday snap appeared on screen.
Zoe had just been discussing the charity cycle she did for her former partner Billy, who took his own life last year, when a holiday snap of her new man popped up on screen.
Zoe embarked on a 350 mile bike ride from Blackpool to Brighton for Sport Relief earlier this year.
The stunning feat raised more than £1 million, with Zoe understandably breaking down in tears when she was told the amount.
Zoe got choked up as she said: “I think that’s one of the things I said, that part of it is that I wanted Billy’s memory to be more about who he was as an amazing man and not about how he died.
“It was such an amazing thing, I feel so grateful to do something for Billy, for his family and other people who have gone through this experience or are living with mental illness.
“I was so moved by the support and people’s generosity from and I get messages from people every day.
“I wish I could reply to them all.”
As the chat came to a close, Phillip asked Zoe about her recent holiday but things got awkward as a picture of her and new boyfriend Michael Reed took over the screen.
Phillip then innocently asked: “Who’s that person?”
Zoe appeared to find find the question awkward and didn’t seem to want to talk about her new romance as she said: “Oh, yeah, that’s my friend Michael…”
Before Phil could say anything else, Holly stepped in and asked her about the upcoming series of Strictly Come Dancing.
Michael and Zoe have been dating since last December and recently enjoyed a holiday to Jamaica.
Zoe will be presenting The Queen’s Birthday party at the Royal Albert Hall this weekend.
