LOOSE Women today aired Dale Winton’s heartbreaking final interview in which he opened up about mental health and joked about his terrible taste in men.
The panellists paid tribute to the TV star after his death yesterday aged 62 and played a clip of his last appearance on the show two years ago.
Dale, 62, appeared on Loose Women in June 2016 and Andrea McLean, who was on the show with him, told the audience today that he was "frank, he was funny and searingly honest".
In the chat, Dale spoke about his struggle with depression, admitting it was triggered by a "bad break-up" and how he barely left the house for five years.
However, he assured the panel he had overcome his mental health issues after a long battle.
Dale said: "I should have taken myself off the TV, but I didn't...
"I always thought 'Get over yourself' - I should have known - my mum died of it [depression].
"If you've never had it, you don't understand it...
"I didn't want to put one foot in front of the other...
"It was triggered by a very bad break-up... I wanted to withdraw but you know what this business is like - the money wasn't the main thing, it was letting people down...
"People were saying 'come out' and I would not leave the house... five years.
"People were going 'what's wrong with him?' I looked ill. I didn't look great."
He went on to praise his longtime friend David Walliams for helping him through the health battle.
Dale added: "A couple of friends [really helped] - David Walliams - he's been brilliant."
When asked if he recovered, he replied: "I've totally come through it."
The Supermarket Sweep star then went on to talk about his "terrible" taste in men.
He laughed: "God I can't half pick 'em bad.
"People are amazed at my taste, if a man's got a beard and he's over 45 - tattoos - I'm there.
"If they've got emotional problems, I can make that last for 10 years!...
"I can't do the nice guys."
In a poignant moment, he added : "Nobody wants a camp, over 60-year-old man.
"I can't go on dating sites."
Dale passed away at his home yesterday and the news sent the showbiz world into mourning.
