Brian McFadden tweets then deletes claims Westlife turned down ‘major’ reunion offer because they don’t want him in the band
BRIAN McFadden claims he is being blocked from a big bucks Westlife reunion by his former bandmates in a bitter pop battle.
The 38-year-old originally ditched the Irish group in 2004 in a bid to launch a solo career.
The other four members – Shane Filan, Markus Feehily, Nicky Byrne and Kian Egan – continued to work together but Brian said he “would never say no to a Westlife reunion” last year.
However, former pal Shane said this week that he no longer sees Brian as part of the band having left them more than a decade ago.
Brian has since made his feelings quite plain on Twitter, claiming he was pushed out of any reunion.
In Tweets that have since been deleted, Brian wrote: “Dear fans and people who have supported us when we had b***dy nothing. You’re the Kings and Queens who are us and we love you.
“But I completely understand that the group see themselves as a four piece. But let’s be honest, ego is destroying a full Westlife reunion.”
He added: “For the record. I have spoken to senior members of the Westlife project saying a major offer is on the table for a five man reunion.
“That’s fine but you have to respect the wishes of Shane, Mark, Nick and Kian. If they only want to be a four piece I respect that.”
The Sun Online has contacted representatives for both Brian and Westlife for comment.
Earlier this week Shane admitted he had not spoken to Brian in years during an appearance on Lorraine.
He said: “I haven’t seen Brian in 10 years. We’ve just lost touch. It’s like going to school with somebody and then not speaking.
“I wouldn’t speak to him to reminisce. Not at all. We all had a good relationship with Brian, then he just left the band very early on.
“And I don’t think we would ever reunite with him.”
And last year, Westlife’s manager Louis Walsh told The Sun Brian would not be part of any reunion, saying: “Brian won’t be involved, it will be the Fab Four. Totally. The four of them just see themselves as Westlife.”
