Shane Lynch reveals upset at Boyzone split and tells fans he wants band to last ‘forever’
SHANE Lynch has revealed his upset at the news that Boyzone will split after 25 years together.
The 41-year-old singer has been part of the hugely successful Irish boyband since its formation in 1993.
But yesterday, The Sun's Dan Wootton exclusively revealed how the four-piece, consisting of Shane, Ronan Keating, Keith Duffy and Mikey Graham, would be calling it a day after one final album and tour to celebrate their milestone.
But taking to Twitter today, Shane appeared to hint he would have carried on performing with the group.
Sharing a funny video of him mouthing along to ABBA hit Voulez-Vous as he drove his car - following the news the Swedish pop group is reuniting - writing alongside it: "#ABBA return after 35 years... HEADLINES 2day @theREALboyzone too retire... I love the world of BZ & would love it 2 last Forever.... ♥..."
His fans were quick to comment on his post, with one writing: "Think we would all love Boyzone to last forever, as Abba said 'Thank you for the music'."
Another commented: "So just take a break till u want to do something again! No need to retire. But then these days there is still always the big comebacks! BZ will never be over!"
A third agreed, writing: "No matter what happens Shane, myself and all BZ fans will forever support u in all u do. with u 100% xxxx".
Shane's post comes after The Sun revealed the group will permanently split after celebrating their 25th anniversary.
The lads, who remain firm friends, have decided to release a final album together before embarking on a massive farewell tour.
After that, they will retire Boyzone as a group and work only on their solo projects, which include Ronan DJ-ing on the Magic FM breakfast show.
In a poignant tribute, their late bandmate Stephen Gately will be included on the goodbye record.
They are spending a lot of time together at the moment, gathering regularly in the recording studio to put the finishing touches to their last songs.
Boyzone have gone all-out for their final release, with Ed Sheeran and Sam Smith among the big names who have agreed to contribute.
The lads will address news of the band’s end in an emotional open letter to fans in the coming weeks.
