Denise Welch cancels 60th birthday party because she doesn’t want to be around ‘drunk friends’ and jets to LA instead
The TV legend will be celebrating her 60th by trying to get acting roles in the States
DENISE Welch will be celebrating her 60th birthday without a party — and has decided to jet off to Los Angeles instead.
The Geordie actress - who has been sober for six years - has confessed that she doesn't like being around drunk friends.
After receiving a work visa, she will be on the hunt for acting jobs in America instead.
She told : "All my friends love a drink and I love them for that.
"But I’m not having a party for my sixtieth. I have no issues being around alcohol. My only issue is being around drunk people."
Denise’s third husband, Lincoln Townley, has a gallery in Los Angeles.
But the former Corrie actress has admitted that it might be difficult for her to find work, as she hasn't been in a show like Downtown Abbey.
And she will go on holiday with her partner to Crete to celebrate the milestone birthday.
Keeping weight off has also been a positive lifestyle change for Denise - who battles clinical depression - and she says that she feels more positive approaching her 60th birthday than she did her 40th or 50th.

The former Loose Women thrilled her Corrie pals with the nostalgic pic.
She shared the snap on Twitter with the caption: "The @itvCorrie cast of 2000!!! #WistfulWednesday."
