EMMERDALE viewers have been left horrified after Joe Tate and Debbie Dingle kissed.
The businesswoman - who is played by actress Charley Webb in the ITV soap - saved Joe's life after he decided to jump off a cliff before his brief death caused the pair to kiss.
Debbie found her former sibling and frequent nemesis Joe floating in the quarry after he was dared to jump off by little brother Noah.
She bravely jumped into the water and dragged an unconscious Joe out of the water and gave him CPR.
But as he was rushed to hospital, after briefly dying, Debbie took Noah home but later secretly visited the hospital to check on her ex.
"Why didn't you let me drown?" he asked Debbie as she visited him in the hospital.
"Sorry but nearly dying brings things into focus.
"My life didn't flash before my eyes or anything but if it did then it would have been so filled with regret.
"You didn't deserve what I did to you, I tried to ruin you. I hate myself for what I did and I'm not going to make anymore excuses, it was just wrong."
Seemingly accepting his apology, Debbie told him: "We've all got regrets, we've all got stuff we wish we could take back.
"I don't know why I'm here at all, it's just a mess, isn't it?
"I want to hate you, I wish I could hate you because I could walk away and have nothing more to do with you."
And as Joe admitted he still loved Debbie, he kissed her, but he didn't get the response he wanted as she walked out.
