Bake Off: The Professionals viewers go wild as Liam Charles makes his hosting debut
GREAT British Bake Off favourite Liam Charles stole the show as he made his hosting debut on tonight's Bake Off: The Professionals opener.
The cheeky chappie, 20, went down a treat with viewers, who fondly remembered him from his time in the famous white marquee from the last series of Bake Off.
Swapping the pressure of the kitchen for a new experience as host, Liam joked that he purposely flunked the Bake Off so he could return on this show.
Viewers flocked to Twitter to sing his praises, writing: "I am loving seeing @LiamcBakes on TV again! #GBBO “is this why I didn’t win the other bake off?” 😂.
"@BritishBakeOff so excited about the new series of bake off the professionals! Loving Liam 😬#bakeofftheprofessionals.
"I’ve missed Bake Off Liam on my screen.
"So happy to see Liam back on Bake Off: The Professionals ❤.
"Okay it’s my first time watching this bake off the professionals thing and I’m like omg is Liam a co-host in this??????
"Pure melts my heart and makes my day at the same time, feel like a proud mum.
"As if Liam from Bake Off is a presenter on the professional version 😭😭 so happy for him, he went way too early on the show he deserves this so much #gbbo."
It's been a case of onwards and upwards for Liam since being eliminated in the quarter finals of the competition in October.
He has since been commissioned to bake Little Mix singer Jade Thirlwall's 25th birthday cake and he told The Sun's Fabulous magazine: "I was in a uni lecture and got a message. I was like: “Oh my god! Crazy!
"It was a wicked three-tier cake. The bottom was rainbow ombré, the middle was chocolate caramel and the top was lemon curd and white chocolate. Jade loved it. The worst part was travelling with it. I got a people carrier, but the driver was reckless, man!"
The lovable Londoner is balancing his new presenting role with his studies and said of joy at landing the role: "I couldn’t believe it. I’ve always been a massive fan of [judges] Benoit Blin and Cherish Finden. I watched the previous series, so to work with them is amazing."
