Pointing out there’s nothing wrong with looking older she hit back: “You must be from la. Well, there are a few people left in the world that choose to age naturally.

“And I’ve earned every f**king minute of my 38 years. How you lookin though? Cause I never heard of ya til you put my name in your mouth. I shall call you little purple troll.”

As a large portion of her 33.1 million followers went wild for the comment, the singer, who is still a few decades away from her bus pass, added that it is a “blessing to grow old”.

She tweeted: “I am of the mindset that it’s a blessing to grow old. That if your face has lines around your eyes and mouth it means you’ve laughed a lot. I pray I look older in 10 years, cause that will mean I’m alive. 🤙🏼”

Fans immediately praised her for her words, with many saying it would be advice they would pass onto their children.

The mum-of-two recently gave an insight into her own parenting methods and revealed that she was raising Willow, six, and Sage, 11 months in a gender neutral household.

She told People: "We are a very label-less household. Last week Willow told me she is going to marry an African woman. I was like, 'Great, can you teach me how to make African food?'

"And she's like, 'Sure mama, and we are going to live with you while our house is getting ready.' I was like, 'What the f**k, who are you? Who is paying for this by the way?'"

And the singer is pleased that the term 'gender neutral' is becoming more widely accepted.

She added: "I was in a school and the bathroom outside the kindergarten said, 'Gender Neutral - anybody', and it was a drawing of many different shapes. I took a picture of it and I wrote, 'Progress'. I thought that was awesome. I love that kids are having this conversation."
