Coronation Street spoilers: David Platt reports rapist Josh Tucker to the police after exposing the pervert to his girlfriend Alya Nazir

IT'S a huge week in Coronation Street for traumatised rape victim David Platt as he finally makes the huge decision to report his attacker, vile mechanic Josh Tucker, to the police.

He makes his mind up after hearing a distraught Johnny Connor pour his heart out to Peter Barlow in the Rovers, as he continues to struggle with son Aidan’s suicide.

David, played by British Soap Awards Best Actor nominee Jack P Shepherd, listens as Johnny tells the landlord how much he wishes Aidan had spoken to him instead of keeping all his suffering inside.

The hairdresser is also approached by Dec who tells David that he was also raped by Josh but can’t bring himself to go to the police and really wants Shona to leave him alone.

David reaches a decision and tells Shona, actress Julia Goulding, he’s ready to report Josh, but she drops an unexpected bombshell – he needs to be quick because Josh is planning on leaving Weatherfield.

With Shona’s support David finally reports Josh to the police for raping him.

He bravely tells the police that he’d be prepared to testify against Josh in court.

Meanwhile, Josh calls at No.6 and tells Alya that the real reason Shona doesn’t like him is because he and David slept together, leaving Alya stunned.

As David and Shona arrive back on the Street, David also resolves to get himself booked in at the STI clinic.

Shona promises she’ll be there for him every step of the way.

The police soon arrive and arrest Josh on suspicion of rape, while Josh prepares to be bewildered and horrified by the accusation against him.

David asks Shona to tell Alya the truth about Josh but she’s thrown when Alya reveals that Josh told her about his one night stand with David. Shona quickly puts her right, telling her that Josh raped David and he’s reported him to the police.

A torn Alya doesn’t know who to believe. Can David get her on side?
