Dale Winton to be laid to rest in ‘non-religious Humanist memorial service’ in London
DALE Winton will be laid to rest in a Humanist ceremony today.
The Supermarket Sweep presenter, who passed away in April, aged 62, will be remembered by his showbiz pals and family as they gather together to say their final goodbye at the non-religious service.
The Humanist UK organisation said in a statement: “We’re very proud to be giving the humanist funeral of a national treasure, Dale Winton.
“He was loved so much and by so many - and tomorrow his loved ones will be celebrating the life he led and the positive impact he had on their lives.”
The paper reports that service will take place from 1pm at Old Church, 1 Marylebone Road, London.
His close friend Christopher Biggins, 69, said: “It’s terrible. He was 62, he should never have died. It’s awful.”
Gloria Hunniford, 78, previously revealed she would be attending the funeral, saying: “I’m actually going to the funeral because I’ll be very glad to say a little goodbye to him as well as it was very sudden.”
According to his close friend and LBC radio host Steve Allen, Dale was worried that people wouldn’t show up to his funeral.
Following his death, Steve said: “He would be so thrilled with the coverage.
“This is what he was worried about, the funeral. We had this chat for many many years and he said ‘are they going to turn up to the funeral?’
“I should b****y think so, of course they will. He met a lot of people and you never forgot him once you met him.”

Strictly star Craig Revel Horwood agreed that it would be a big funeral, saying: "Of course he will get a good turnout ... Dale will get a big funeral."
Dale’s sudden passing was announced by long-term agent Jan Kennedy on April 18 after he was found collapsed at his home. There has been no confirmation of his cause of death.
She said: "It is with great sadness that we can confirm the passing of Dale Winton who died at home earlier today.
"While we know many will share this terrible loss, we ask that you respect the family's privacy at this time of grief."
