SINGER Will Young is turning to stone in a bid to combat stress and anxiety.

The star, 39, is to take a course in dry stone walling — the ancient craft of construction with no cement or mortar.

Will, who was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder in 2012, will first finish his West End run in Strictly Ballroom The Musical.

He said: “I find doing anything with the hands is very therapeutic.

“I start doing a dry stone walling course in September. It’s in Somerset. I have dry stone walls around my house in the country and I think they’re beautiful.”

Speaking at this week’s Chelsea Flower Show, Will revealed he was loving Strictly Ballroom, adding: “The cast are absolutely brilliant, it’s great fun.”

He was paired on BBC1’s Strictly in 2016 with Karen Clifton but quit with stress after just two performances. He later told how he saw a spiritual shaman and did “shaking therapy” to help his anxiety.

The 2002 Pop Idol winner also revealed last year he may be quitting music altogether.

He said: “I’m taking an elongated break. Actually I don’t know if I’ll go back to it. I like to do things that get me excited.”

He is not the first celebrity to dabble in the building trade. Oscar-winning actor Daniel Day-Lewis is now a stonemason, while boxing champ Anthony Joshua used to be a bricklayer.

Hollywood stars Whoopi Goldberg and Arnold Schwarzenegger were labourers before making it big.
