Emmerdale spoilers: Chas Dingle finds out she’s having girl but faces heartbreak as nurse spots something wrong with the baby during the scan
She finds out the sex of her baby, but is left in shock by some news about her and Paddy's unborn child
EMMERDALE's Chas Dingle gets good news and bad when she visits the hospital for a baby scan.
The pub landlady - who's pregnant with boyfriend Paddy Kirk's baby - is delighted to learn that she is expecting a baby girl.
But Chas - played by Lucy Pargeter - is filled with dread when the sonographer spots something concerning on the scan.
Chas is then worried there might be something seriously wrong with her unborn daughter.
She was forced to attend the scan alone after getting her dates mixed up, and when she realises she's due at the hospital, she can't find Paddy.
A source told Inside Soap: "Oh my goodness, poor Chas.
"When she realises she's made a mistake with her diary, she gets a sinking feeling in the pit of her stomach.
"She panics that she won't get to the hospital in time for the scan, and thinks that this is more evidence of how she's unfit to be a mother.
"Of course, it's a completely understandable slip-up, given all the recent upheaval in their lives - but she can't believe she's been so careless, and she's furious with herself.
"She desperately searches around for Paddy, though he's nowhere to be found."
After her appointment, Chas is left worried sick - and is nervous to tell Paddy what she's found out about their daughter.
The source added: "Chas is overcome with joy when she hears she's expecting a girl.
"But the scan has also revealed something else.
"Chas is in shock following the diagnosis, and has no idea idea how she might broach the subject with Paddy."
- Emmerdale airs weeknights, 7pm, on ITV. Chas' baby scenes will air next week, on Thursday May 31, 2018.
