GOOD Morning Britain fans were left outraged after Young Sheldon actress Zoe Perry was asked about her mum Laura Metcalf's view on the Roseanne Barr scandal.

Viewers slammed presenter Ranvir Singh, 40, for changing the subject from the new Big Bang Theory prequel to the racist tweet debate.

During an interview with Young Sheldon stars Iain Armitage, nine, and Zoe Perry, 33, it was revealed that the latter's mother is Laurie Metcalf, who played the same role of Mary Cooper as her daughter in the Big Bang Theory.

Ranvir then used the subject of Zoe's mum to bring up the TV show Roseanne, which was cancelled by ABC earlier this week.

She said: "It must be an interesting few days for your mum because she was in the now cancelled Roseanne. That is huge news in America.

"How does your mum feel about the show going?"

As a still of Laurie in Roseanne - which she has starred in since 1988 - flashed up on screen, Ranvir added in a brief explanation of how the racism row had unfolded.

The camera then panned to a now very uncomfortable-looking Zoe, who replied: "I have actually not had the chance to connect with my mother.

"We've been overseas and we've been just doing this, so we've missed each other.

"I imagine for the whole cast and crew, it's really difficult. I've known a lot of those people my whole life. But yes there must be repercussions for a statement like that."

Ranvir then asked: "She can't be supported by your mum can she?"

An increasingly-distressed Zoe said: "I know some people have been making some public statements. No one would support a statement like that. But now I just hope everyone involved in that crew can find work."

Richard then interjected: "There's no coming back is there?"

Zoe then nervously laughed: "I imagine not!"

Those watching at home had a great deal of sympathy for the actress, and criticised the "grilling".

One wrote: "@ITV well done @GMB for making the “young sheldon” interview get extremely awkward for bringing “racist roseanne” into and putting fantastic actress on the spot."

Another commented: "@GMB cringing through Ranvir grilling poor young Sheldon’s on screen Mum, was uncalled for and off topic."

A third shared: "@GMB #goodmorningbritain Really poor taste and slightly inappropriate, quizzing the guest on #RosanneBarr with the 9yr old present, asking about #RacistRosanne when they are there to talk about #YoungSheldon."

Many viewers felt it was "inappropriate" for Roseanne to have been brought up during an interview involving Iain who plays a young Sheldon Cooper.

The awkward segment came after fans praised Richard Madeley for his hair before ITV producers jokingly gave him a monobrow.

While it doesn't appear that the journalist had altered his hairstyle, it seems his locks caught the attention of those at home in a large way this morning.

One wrote on Twitter: "#gmb Richard has the best hairstyle ever .. as a teen I tried so hard to get flicks like he has that was before I even seen him on tv I just loved the flick look."

Another commented: "I love his hair."
