Michelle Keegan reveals she stopped a stranger choking in a restaurant using medical skills she learnt from Our Girl
She plays Army medic Georgie Lane in the BBC drama, and she's been putting her life-saving skills to good use
MICHELLE Keegan is a real-life hero - she used the first-aid skills she learned while filming Our Girl to save a woman’s life.
The actress - who plays Army medic Georgie Lane in the BBC drama - has revealed how she was out for dinner when she rushed over to help a woman who had fallen face down on her plate.
And Michelle says her time on the show gave her the confidence and knowledge to stop the woman from choking.
She said: “Before Our Girl I would never have done that.
“I would have gone into a panic state.
“I think the training that I had gave me confidence.”
The 31 year old - who's married to Mark Wright - said she knew the woman needed sugar and told the waiter to bring a Coke.
She said: “They came over with a bottle and a straw.
“I knew it was quite dangerous because it could get trapped in her throat.
“So I threw the straw and put it in a glass.
“She started sipping it and came around slowly.”
Meanwhile, Michelle says she will NEVER move to America full-time - even though husband Mark lives in Los Angeles.
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mark relocated to Los Angeles after getting a job as a presenter on entertainment news show Extra.
She said: “I’d love to work in America but I couldn’t see myself living out there full-time.
“I’m a home bird.”
She added that she might struggle to make herself heard to American audiences as they do not understand her northern accent when she visits.
The actress said: “When I’ve been out in LA, even if I’m ordering a coffee or something, they think I’m Australian.
“I have to slow down a lot and pronounce my words to make it a bit easier.”
