EASTENDERS fans were gripped by emotional scenes in Friday night’s episode which saw Shakil Kazemi’s killer arrested.
Shakil’s mother Carmel Kazemi, played by Bonnie Langford was led to the murderer by her son’s friend Keegan Baker (Zack Morris).
The soap’s harrowing knife crime storyline had been building up to Keegan taking deathly revenge against stabber Bruno but he instead called police in a bid to see him jailed.
Keegan took Carmel to a block of flats where Bruno could be seen messing about outside with his gang.
He told Carmel he would do anything to make her feel better but she convinced him another death was not the answer.
A grieving Carmel and Keegan could be seen sitting in the back of a police car as cops wrestled with Bruno as they tried to restrain him.
His mother arrived back from the shops and rushed over to try and help him but he was taken off by the authorities.
After giving a statement at the police station, Carmel walked straight up to the mother of her son’s killer in tears.

At first she appeared angry but she actually offered words of support and sympathy to the parent who was in shock about her son ending up in a gang.
Soap fans took to Twitter to praise Bonnie and Zack, as well as EastEnders writers for their take on knife crime.
One person wrote: “I know it’s only acting, but Zack Morris and Bonnie Langford are playing the part of a true grieving best friend and a broken mother so well. #EastEnders.”
Another added: “I hope Shakil gets the justice he deserves #EastEnders.”
And someone else tweeted: “Such powerful acting in a very real life problem. #EastEnders in a day where there has been two stabbings in my area in 24hrs. Our children are our future, this has to stop. #LivesNotKnives.”
Viewers will see Keegan struggle to cope in the coming weeks as he grieves for his friend.
Actor Zack said of the character: “He’s not very good at showing emotion and keeps things under wraps.
“Keegan is going to be a lot more emotional, there’s a lot less bravado and front from now on. It’s not something you can just move on from.”
