Kirstie Allsopp reveals she flies business-class while her children fly economy
KIRSTIE Allsopp has revealed she flies business-class while her kids are in economy.
The Location, Location, Location star said upgrading them would be an “absurd waste of money”.
Last year chef Gordon Ramsay, worth around £35million, revealed he will not bump up his kids on flights and he had been backed by Kirstie, 46.
She says she and partner Ben Andersen regularly turn left when boarding planes while Bay, 12, and Oscar, 10, go right.
The Channel 4 star, estimated to earn £500,000 a year, said: “If I’m going to spend money, it’s on the holiday itself rather than the flights.
“When we fly as a family, the boys do fly separately from Ben and me if we’re not in economy together.
“Obviously this wasn’t the case when they were little but now they are big enough to sit separately, they do.
“Club Class should be a huge treat you’ve worked hard for. If kids get used to it, what do they have to work towards? It seems like an absurd waste of money and very spoiling. I suspect Gordon Ramsay and I can’t be the only ones to think this.”
Kirstie, eldest child of Charles Henry Allsopp, 6th Baron Hindlip, has posted various holiday pics online over the past two years, including trips to the Bahamas, Greek islands, Turkey, Kenya and New York.
She is also well-known for her thrifty ways, writing several books on transforming homes on the cheap.
Ramsay, 51, explained his refusal to fork out thousands for his four kids to join him in the upper class.
He said: “They get entertainment on their iPads. I don’t want them sat there with a 10-course f***ing menu with champagne. It is my wife and I’s choice to keep them real.”
