Who is Lewis Archer in Coronation Street?
Lewis Archer is a conman, male escort and all round sleaze who first appeared in Coronation Street in 2009.
He initially had an on-off relationship with Audrey Roberts but broke her hear after stealing from Barlow's Bookies and fleeing the country.
However he returned in 2012, and reunited with Audrey after paying back the money he stole and claiming to be a changed man.
They split up partly due to pressure from Audrey's daughter Gail Platt and barmaid Gloria Price who didn't approve of their relationship.
Gail then began a secret affair with Lewis after he promised her they'd move to Italy to start a new life.
But instead he duped her, stealing £40,000 from her bank account and doing a runner once again.
When did Lewis Archer return to Coronation Street?
Lewis returned to Coronation Street in May 2018.
With the help of Psychic Rosemary he was planning to con Gail AGAIN by pretending that Richard Hillman was cursing her family from beyond the grave.
His plan was foiled by Roy Cropper who uncovered the ruse.
But Audrey soon fell for his charms again and they reignited their relationship - much to Gail's disgust.
How did Lewis Archer die in Coronation Street?
Lewis was found dead in Audrey’s house on New Year’s Day 2019, clutching an engagement ring after failing to turn up for dinner at the bistro.
That morning he'd been complaining of pains in his chest and arm.
Before dying of a heart attack it appeared he'd been planning to propose to Audrey.
But Gail was convinced that he was going to con her mother out of her money and flee to the Dominican Republic.
Audrey dismissed Gail's suspicions but questioned everything when she discovered that someone stole the £80,000 left to her by her friend Archie Shuttleworth.
Who played Lewis Archer in Coronation Street?
Lewis Archer was played by Nigel Havers, 65.
He is the son of the famous barrister Baron Michael Havers and the godfather of the comedian Jack Whitehall.
He rose to fame with his role as Peter Dinmont in Upstairs, Downstairs in 1975.
Nigel has also starred in Benidorm, Don't Wait Up and the reality show Celebrity Carry On Barging.
