CORONATION Street viewers were left devastated this evening as Rosie Webster left the soap.

The character, played by Helen Flanagan, is headed to Japan after been offered a job on a Japanese TV game show - following an appearance on This Morning.

In real life the 27-year-old actress - who plays the ditsy receptionist – is going on maternity leave.

Those watching at home were sad to see her go, with many saying how much they will miss her.

One person wrote: “Aww I'll miss Rosie's dopeyness! #corrie #coronationstreet.”

Another tweeted: “Sad to see #Rosie @helenflanagan1 leave again but on the bright side she can start planning her lovely wedding now ❤💍👰 #youwillbemissed #sayonara #Goodluck #coronationstreet @itvcorrie.”

Her onscreen mum Sally Ann Matthews tweeted: "I won’t miss Rosie’s sloppy photocopying skills but I will miss you @helenflanagan1. Come back real soon Flanners!! x #Corrie."

On tonight’s show, Rosie was approached by a modelling agent and later reveals she has been offered a job in Japan working on a TV game show.

However, Rosie's departure is not all fun and games because shortly before she departs the cobbles she accidentally leaves late Underworld boss Aidan Connor's (Shayne Ward) will on the photocopier at the solicitor's office.

Meanwhile the actress, who recently got engaged to Scott Sinclair, said she wouldn’t  pressure herself to go back to work.

The mum-of-one said: "I will definitely return, I'm just not sure when.

"I just need to see how everything goes with the baby.

"I didn't want to have the pressure of putting a date on going back to work. My girls need to be my priority."
