In last night's episode, his co-star Dr Alex breaks the news to his devastated co-stars.

Since leaving the villa, Niall has not spoken out on social media and has not made a comment about his departure.

Friends who spoke to The Sun Online yesterday evening said they were “shocked” to hear he had left and told us they “couldn’t get hold of him”.

One pal, who asked not to be named, told us: “We don't know what's gone on and we haven’t spoken to him so we’re in the dark.”

“We are as shocked as everyone else is. It's a shame as he was doing really well and taking the show by storm.

“He is really popular as he's a lovely boy.”

Niall’s fans were gutted to hear of his departure and inundated his social media profiles with messages telling him they missed him.

Tonight Alex admits he’s upset Niall had to leave and said he would definitely stay in contact with him.
