Father Brown will return to BBC One for a seventh series in January 2019 though the exact date is yet to be confirmed.
In 2017 it was the most-watched show on BBC Daytime averaging 2.3 million views.
The show is has been watched in 150 countries and is the most popular BBC programme in both Sweden and Norway.
The series is based on the short stories by G.K Chesterton.
It follows a Catholic priest with a keen eye and a spirit for sleuthing who helps to solve crimes in the fictional Cotswold village of Kembleford.
Who's in the cast of Father Brown?
Mark Williams plays the title role of Father Brown.
He is best known for starring as Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter films and has also appeared in Red Dwarf and Doctor Who.
Sorcha Cusack plays Mrs McCarthy - she was previously in the 1973 film Jane Eyre and in 1008 she briefly played Helen Connor in Coronation Street.
Jack Deam (Marty Fisher in Shameless) plays Inspector Mallory and Emer Kenny (Eastenders' Zsa Zsa Carter) plays Bunty Windermere.
Where is Father Brown filmed?
The hit BBC show based on the GK Chesterton character is set in the Cotswolds.
The show is filmed in the picturesque area as well as several locations across the Midlands.
These include the Cotswold village of Blockley and Worcestershire city Worcester.

What will happen in Father Brown series seven?
The new series will see the return of Mrs McCarthy, Inspector Mallory and Bunty Windermere as they band together to help Father Brown solve mysteries.
When Lady Felicia comes back from Northern Rhodesia in need of help he points her towards Hercule Flambeau.
A notorious murderer also returns to the village which puts Sergeant Goodfellow in serious danger.
