Mark Wright reveals he suffers from ‘horrendous’ sleep paralysis and says condition leaves him ‘waking up screaming’
The reality-star-turned-TV-host was left terrified after experiencing the same frightening situation twice in one night
MARK Wright has opened up about his traumatic battle with sleep paralysis which leaves him unable to move and feeling like he’s pinned down when he first wakes up.
Former The Only Way Is Essex star Mark tweeted a screenshot of a website which explains the symptoms of the condition.
Along with the image, he wrote: “Anyone have this? I’ve had it a few times. Last night was the worse I ever had it. Horrendous feeling.”
The explanation in the picture read: “Sleep paralysis is a feeling of being conscious but unable to move. It occurs when a person passes between stages of wakefulness and sleep.
“During these transitions, you may be unable to move or speak for a few seconds up to a few minutes. Some people may also feel pressure or a sense of choking.”
One of the Extra TV host’s followers replied: “It’s awful! I had it when I was a teen! It felt like a ghost was pushing me down in my sleep and I was trying to scream and wake up but no words would come out!”

Recalling the alarming moment, Mark responded: “Exactly that!! I could of sworn a ghost was pinning my shoulders down. Once I snapped out of it I was screaming.”
Another of his fans wrote: “They are horrendous. I felt like I’ve been thrown around my bedroom before. Always too terrified to go back to sleep afterwards #scary.”
Reality star Mark tweeted back: “I feel ya, last night though, when I went back to sleep it happened again. Twice in one night, horrific.”
Mark is currently living in Los Angeles where he works for television channel Extra.
His wife Michelle Keegan has remained in the UK but says she would consider going out there to live with Mark if the right career opportunity came up.
She told OK! magazine: “I’ve got an agent in LA and obviously if a job comes up over there I would love to work in LA.
“So who knows, maybe in the future.”
