Who is Jo O’Meara?

Born April 29, 1979, Joanne Valda O’Meara is an English singer-songwriter and television personality.

The star shot to fame in 1999 with the pop band S Club 7, alongside Tina Barrett, Paul Cattermole, Jon Lee, Bradley McIntosh, Rachel Stevens and Hannah Spearritt.

The group released their first single, Bring It All Back, in 1999 with the song going straight to Number 1.

They went on to have four UK No1 singles and a UK No1 album.

S Club 7 also had TV shows including Miami 7 and Viva S Club before splitting in 2003.

Although Jo was regarded as the band’s most prominent vocalist, her only debut single performed poorly before her album Relentless flopped in the charts.

Jo’s only child Lenny Slate was born in 2008.

Jo caused real controversy when she entered the fifth edition of Celebrity Big Brother in 2007.

The singer, along with model Danielle Lloyd, and the late Jade Goody were accused of racist and bullying behaviour towards fellow contestant Shilpa Shetty.

Jo became the fourth housemate to be evicted while Bollywood actress Shilpa went on to win the series.

In November 2008, Jo suffered a head wound after a man threw a bottle at her during a club performance in an attack thought to be motivated by her CBB appearance.

Where is Jo O’Meara now?

Jo went on a world tour with the band SC3, a rebranded version of the original group, in 2018 after a sold out arena tour in 2015.

The threesome included Jo, as well as Tina and Bradley.

In February 2023, it was revealed that all seven had reunited and would be going on a 25th anniversary tour.

S Club 7 confirmed they will perform 11 shows in arenas across the UK and Ireland in October 2023.

They also revealed their wish to perform at Glastonbury.
