Who is Father Brown actor Mark Williams, who did he play in the Harry Potter films and what else has the Fast Show star been in?

MARK Williams is set to return as the titular Father Brown for a seventh outing in the hit BBC period drama.

Who is Mark Williams?

Born August 22, 1959, Mark Williams is an English actor, screenwriter and presenter from Bromsgrove, Worcestershire.

He is best known for his role as Arthur Weasley in the Harry Potter franchise, in which he first appeared in 2002's Chamber of Secrets and recurred in every future film.

After working at the Royal Shakespeare Company the 58-year-old came to public attention as one of the stars of the popular BBC sketch programme The Fast Show.

He has one child with wife Dianne Williams.

What else has the Harry Potter star been in?

Mark made his debut in the same film that celebrated actor Hugh Grant did, the 1982 Oxford University Film Foundation production Privileged.

His early feature film roles include as Horace in 101 Dalmatians, as well as 1997 classic The Borrowers and the Academy-Award winning Shakespeare in Love.

After his appearance in Harry Potter, Mark starred alongside Michelle Pfeiffer, Robert De Niro and Claire Danes in 2007's romantic adventure film Stardust.

In 2012, he landed a role as Brian Williams in Doctor Who, the father of the Doctor's companion, Rory.

When will Father Brown series seven air on BBC One?

Father Brown will return to BBC One for a seventh series in January 2019.

The series is based on the short stories by G.K Chesterton and last year, it became the most-watched show on BBC Daytime averaging 2.3 million views.
