Paul McCartney to release his first full new album in five years this September
Egypt Station, which shares a title with one of the Beatles legend’s own paintings, will take listeners on a musical journey
SIR Paul McCartney has unveiled his first full album of new music in five years, announcing last night that he will release Egypt Station this September.
The record, which shares a title with one of the Beatles legend's own paintings, will include new singles I Don’t Know and Come On To Me.
It is his first full album of all-new music since the topped the charts with New in 2013, and was recorded between Los Angeles, London and Sussex.
The rock icon worked with producer Greg Kurstin, best known for his partnership with singer Adele, and also co-wrote a track with One Republic frotnman Ryan Tedder.
Sir Paul said: “I liked the words Egypt Station. It reminded me of the ‘album’ albums we used to make.
“Egypt Station starts off at the station on the first song and then each song is like a different station.

“So it gave us some idea to base all the songs around that. I think of it as a dream location that the music emanates from.”
The 14 songs are described as a “travologue”, with different tracks based in exotic locations around the globe.
Speculation that Sir Paul would release new music began earlier this month when he wiped all the posts from his Instagram account and began posting photos of himself at pianos and in the studio.
