SUSANNA Reid slammed Piers Morgan on Good Morning Britain after he called Love Island star Rosie Williams a ";halfwit" for putting her career as a lawyer on hold to appear on the show.

The 26-year-old contestant's interview slot descended into chaos when the show's co-hosts argued live on air earlier today.

Turning to the recently-ousted Welsh contestant - who won praise for how she handled emotionally-manipulative Adam Collard, 22 - Piers said: "Rosie. You achieved a postgraduate master of law degree from the University of Law in Chester, and you've given up all that to go into a villa full of halfwits to try and have sex on national TV.

"Why would you do that?"

Rosie replied: "It was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity that came my way."

Piers asked: "What do your family make of you giving up this extraordinarily successful law career to make yourself look stupid on TV?"

She shot back: "My family are very proud of me and I don't think I made myself look stupid on TV."

Susanna interjected: "Quite right."

Rosie added: "I was working 18-hour days in a law firm and getting sleepless nights. It's not as glamorous as it seems."

Susanna then interrupted the interview to turn to Piers and say: "It's so ironic, you have lots of qualifications and consider yourself an intelligent person, and you're making a career on television.

"Why would you deny that opportunity to Rosie?"

The presenter and Piers then began squabbling, with him ending the argument with: "Going on that villa is not empowering."

It comes as Piers revealed Danny Dyer will be appearing on Good Evening Britain on Thursday to discuss daughter Dani's appearance on Love Island.

He joked earlier today that he wanted the EastEnders legend - who famously plays Mick Carter - to "pummel" her new boyfriend Jack Fincham ahead of his appearance on the prime time special this Thursday at 9pm.

Speaking about the moment when contestant Jack, 26, asked Dani, 22, to be his girlfriend in last night's show, Piers said: "I tell you what he is thoughtful about.

"Just how much money he can make in the press and media if he can get with Danny Dyer's daughter.

"That's what his game is and Danny senior will be here on Thursday and I need to have a chat about this.

"Because I want to help him protect his daughter from these media-crazed, power-hungry, fame-guzzling reptiles."

At another point Piers laid into Jack further, and enthusiastically added: "I would love to see Danny Dyer senior run in and pull Jack and halt-wit off his daughter and pummel him.

"That I would watch."
