CELEBRITIES will be experiencing what it's like to work on the frontline of the NHS in a new BBC documentary to highlight the 70th anniversary of the National Health Service.

When does Celebrities on the NHS Frontline start on BBC One?

Celebrities on the NHS Frontline starts on Thursday June 28 at 9pm on BBC One.

The series consists of two hour hour-long episodes.

The documentary will not be available to watch on BBC Wales.

Stacey Dooley

Stacey Dooley, 31, is a journalist and as a child she spent years in and out hospital due to a heart murmur.

In the documentary she gets a chance to work in the Heart Attack Centre in King's College Hospital - the first in the country to treat heart attacks whilst they're taking place.

She also works with Health Care Assistants on one of Europe’s leading Liver Units, to discover the ethical dilemma faced by staff as they make life and death decisions.

Jonnie Peacock

Jonnie Peacock, 25, is a Paralympic gold medal winner - he lost his lower right leg at the age of five after contracting meningitis.

He had almost a dozen operations but has no idea what goes on in theatre.

In the BBC documentary, he experiences working with Theatre Support Workers and meets some of the patients on the Children’s Wards.

Anne Widdecombe

Anne Widdecombe, 70, is an ex Tory MP and worked as a Domestic in a cottage hospital when she was a student in the 70s.

Between 1998 and 1999 she was also Shadow Health Secretary.

At King’s College hospital she works alongside nurses in Urgent Care, changes bedpans and tries to manage the daily bed crisis in A&E - giving her a new insight into the NHS and a chance to reflect on its state today.

Dr Michael Mosley, 61, is a medical journalist and star of the series Trust Me I'm A Doctor.

In the series he joins the army of junior doctors and the Resus team (the resuscitation area) in the hospital’s incredibly busy Emergency Department and reflects on how the NHS is different today.

Michael shares his memories of training as an A&E doctor in the early 80s - from sewing his glove to a patient’s head at the end of a very long, tiring shift, to a daily tea and cake afternoon break.

What is Celebrities on the NHS Frontline about?

Celebrities on the NHS Frontline is a series in which celebrities will gets hands on experience of the challenges faced by NHS staff today.

Michael Mosley, Stacey Dooley, Anne Widdecombe and Jonnie Peacock will help out the staff at King's College Hospital in London.

At the NHS turns 70, the celebs will learn about the complexities of hospital life including the struggle to find beds for patients and the rigorous training staff must got through.

Over the two-part series the stars will have their eyes opened to the realities of working on the frontline of the NHS.
