Davina McCall hits back at fans who troll her after she posts picture of her abs
DAVINA McCall has hit back at fans who trolled her after she posted a picture of her abs on Instagram.
The 50-year-old shared a bikini selfie as she told her 894,0000 followers she was "grateful" for how her "fitness journey has made me feel".
But the mum-of-three received a barrage of comments branding her "too skinny".
One wrote: "I surprised that you would post a photo of yourself showing so much skin and bone. I thought you promoted health.."
Another troll commented: "Sorry but this no longer look right! It is not a healthy look !!!
"Why posting a photo with sticking bones and such thin face ! Very disappointing!"
A third added: "I thought the mantra these days was strong not skinny?"
It prompted the Long Lost Family host to share another snap taken on the same day that shows her without such defined abdominal muscles as a comparison.
Her original post said: "Hi. It is the beginning of the summer . And this is a 👙 selfie. And it probably won’t be the last .
"No apologies. Because I cannot quite believe I am posting pictures of myself in bikinis still.
"I get asked all the time how many times I work out a week. 3 times minimum … 4 ideally.. 45 mins to an hour .
"Can’t run at the mo so I do a mixture strength and cardio … i have so much to be grateful for… my kids are number one but right behind them at no 2 is how my fitness journey has made me feel."
She continued: "If I’m groggy, sluggish, negative it always sorts me out … if you are starting … start slow.. set small goals.. achievable goals.. you will get to where you want to be.
"I did. And if I did. ( after years of yo-yo dieting and binge exercise) You can. #ownyourgoals #fitness #motivation."
Stunned at the response, Davina took to Twitter where she insisted she was "happy and healthy".
Sharing the comparison shot, she wrote: "Jesus! Talk about hooha!!!
"Two pics… same day I chose one on the right coz I liked my 6 pack but just so you can all calm down here is one without.
"Look at my insta … happy and healthy."
The star's fans were quick to offer their support, with one writing: "You don’t need to justify yourself to anyone @ThisisDavina it’s people who aren’t happy in their own skin who pass judgement on others #Loveyourself."
Another said: "Wish people would stop telling others what they should be doing with their own body - concentrate on your own self !"
One fan wrote: "Haters will always hate & it must be very hard to ignore but I am sure you have more positive comments than bad so focus on those.
"You look awesome & if you are happy with your body that’s all that matters".
Davina has been open about her health and fitness journey and follows a sugar-free diet.
She's sold over half a million books on the topic to date.
